Welcome to Mandurah

Mandurah, Australia’s Top Tourism Town 2023, is set against a backdrop of magnificent beaches and an estuary twice the size of Sydney Harbour. Originally known as Mandjoogoordap, Mandurah means ‘meeting place of the heart’. Once you arrive here, it’s easy to see why it was crowned Western Australia’s Top Tourism Town in 2022 and 2023. Enjoy waterways for days and much more. Because in Mandurah we’re relaxed by nature.

TOP 10 THINGS TO DO

Here are our best picks (besides the Giants of Mandurah) for having a BIG time here:

  1. Take a cruise spotting dolphins, cruising the canals, catching crayfish or scooping for crabs.
  2. Have a holiday of a lifetime onboard a fully-equipped houseboat and enjoy waterways for days as you cruise along the Mandurah estuary and the Murray River.
  3. Say ahoy and get ready to Yo Ho Ho as you cruise the waterways on Mandurah’s very own Pirate Ship.
  4. Hire a kayak, paddle boat or bike to explore Mandurah and its waterways at your own pace or cruise Mandurah’s Ocean Marina and Venetian Canals while enjoying a barbecue on a floating circular eco-friendly BBQ boat.
  5. Play WA’s Golf Coast – Tee off at one of Mandurah’s golf courses, located along the coast or surrounded by bush land.
  6. Have fun on the water with a thrilling jet ski tour on the ocean or estuary.
  7. Visit the 2,000-year old thrombolite reef at Lake Clifton and see what life was like when the Earth began.
  8. Book guided nature tours or go birdwatching at the Creery Wetlands where hundreds of migratory birds visit every year.
  9. Listen to Dreamtime Stories – Learn of the region’s first people on Aboriginal Culture and History Tours.
  10. Indulge your taste buds – Relax and enjoy water views at one of the many restaurants, cafes and bars by the foreshore or at the marina.

OUR SIGNATURE EVENTS

  • Mandurah's Christmas Lights

Experience Mandurah’s very own little Las Vegas, every year from 1st December until early January.

Mandurah’s Canal Christmas Lights are a wonderland on water. Thanks to the Mandurah canal residents for putting in an enormous effort and dressing up their houses for Christmas at their own expense, every year more than 200 homes come alive with lights and everyone wants to stand out. There is some healthy competition in the canals and people who do not light up their houses are called the grinches – in a friendly manner of course.

Some residents have about 100 items plugged in, spend 80 man-hours to install their Christmas light decoration, and use 15 timeclocks powered by 30 power boards from 20 extension leads.

As you drift down the canals by boat or on board a cruise, there is a water wishing well with all proceeds going to local charities.

As well as the canal lights, there is an elaborate display on land too. Each year, you can stroll around the Mandurah Foreshore and down a beautiful walking trail of spectacular Christmas lights.

  • Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest

Held on the shore of the Peel-Harvey Estuary, the annual festival showcases Mandurah’s local music scene, our local produce, lifestyle, culture and all-round talent alongside our famous blue manna crabs. You’ll find plenty of fresh food, live music, performances, children’s entertainment, competitions, cooking demonstrations, celebrities, aquatic entertainment… the list goes on. It is considered one of the state’s largest free festivals, attracting an audience of more than 100,000 each year. And if you want a taste of Mandurah, this is definitely the
    festival for you!
