Falcon Bay Beach

Falcon Bay is protected from the southwest sea breeze in summer. There’s a reef point great for snorkelling and surfing. The grass playground and BBQ area have recently been refurbished and come with beautiful views of the bay. Bring your own picnic or barbecue or get some takeaway from the nearby Falcon Bay Beach Café.

Doddies Beach

Doddies Beach is a great beach for kids with ample shade and is equipped with BBQs and picnic shelters overlooking the beach, making it an ideal setting for BBQs and family gatherings.

Keith Holmes Reserve (The Lido, Mandurah)

The Mandurah locals love to go to Keith Holmes Reserve for family gatherings, BBQs and picnics. There’s plenty of room for children to play, a grassed area, BBQs and picnic shelters as well as a man-made beach close-by. A footbridge leads over to the Mandurah Ocean Marina where you find lots of waterside cafes, restaurants and takeaway options.

Coodanup Foreshore Reserve

Featuring plenty of BBQ and picnic areas and playground, this pet-friendly reserve is a great place for the whole family. Located right by the Mandurah estuary, Coodanup Foreshore Reserve is a scenic spot with amazing birdlife too.

Novara Foreshore Reserve

Located right by the estuary in Falcon, Novara Foreshore Reserve is popular with locals and visitors alike. Featuring shade sails, nature-inspired play areas, including slides, tunnels, balancing equipment, and picnic areas overlooking the water, this family-friendly reserve is a great spot for a family BBQ or picnic.

  • Coopers Mill

    Coolenup Island is only accessible by boat and has a lovely picnic spot by the 170-year-old mill.
  • Cantwell Park

    Located in Pinjarra, Cantwell Park is a beautiful and picturesque picnic spot right on the banks of the Murray River.
  • Drakesbrook Weir

    Beautiful spot in Waroona, only a 40 minute drive inland from Mandurah, with sandy beach, lawn, shaded tables and free barbecues.
  • North Dandalup Dam

    Spend a day out in nature. One of the secret spots the locals don’t want you to know about is the North Dandalup Dam. The dam was constructed in 1994 and is the newest dam serving Perth, set in the North Dandalup River.

    Enjoy the coastal views from the lookout, have a picnic at the recreation lake  or use the barbecues for a nice family meal! Don’t forget to bring some beach games or a ball for the little ones – there is plenty of room for entertainment around here!

  • Serpentine Falls

    Enjoy a picnic or barbecue amongst shady trees by the waterfall at Serpentine National Park. The tame kangaroos might join you as well but please keep a distance and don’t feed them.
  • Picnic at wineries

    Purchase a picnic hamper to dine in the grounds at Millbrook Winery or bring your own to enjoy by the lake at Drakesbrook Fine Wines or by the vines at Peel Estate Winery.
