Old Blythewood is a beautiful old farmhouse on Bindjareb Noongar Country on a high bank overlooking the Murray River, near Pinjarra and about an hour’s drive south of Perth.

Dating from 1861, the farmhouse accommodated the McLarty family as well as an inn and post office. An earlier building, used as a kitchen block, is located behind the main house, with views of the river.

Old Blythewood was gifted to the National Trust by the McLarty family in 1972. Lotterywest funding supported conservation works to the house and kitchen building in 2020-21, including roof repairs, timber floor works, masonry conservation, external timber painting and site drainage.
