Using remarkable WA specimens, rocks, fossils and real geological stories, explore how scientists piece together Earth’s past and uncover the forces that have shaped the landscapes we see today.
Discover some of the oldest evidence of life near Marble Bar, ancient stromatolites and the living thrombolites of Lake Clifton, revealing connections to some of the earliest forms of life on Earth.
The journey continues through Karijini’s banded iron formations, ancient meteorite impacts, volcanic eruptions, mountain building and the breakup of Gondwana. You’ll also uncover the geology closer to home, including how the Darling Fault helps define the Peel region and follows a major ancient geological boundary associated with the former connection between India and Western Australia.
Along the way, learn how rocks form, landscapes change and geologists use evidence hidden in the Earth to understand billions of years of history.
