This extraordinary performance brings together three distinctive works that explore themes of connection, identity and belonging through powerful choreography and striking visual design.
The program features The Journey Itself is Home by Rafael Bonachela, inspired by the writings of 17th-century Japanese poet Matsuo Bashō and set to an evocative score by Grammy Award-winning composer Bryce Dessner. Audiences will also experience the Australian premiere of The Mass Ornament by Berlin-based choreographer Fran Diaz, a hypnotic work that explores collective movement and human connection through the music of Henryk Górecki.
Completing the triple bill is Love Lock by acclaimed choreographer Melanie Lane, a bold reimagining of folk dance that celebrates cultural diversity, resilience and the unifying power of movement. Featuring stunning costume design by renowned Australian fashion designer Akira Isogawa and an original score by UK electronic artist Clark, this visually striking work has been praised by the Sydney Morning Herald as being “choreographed with electric intelligence.”
