About the Event
Hear coastal narratives and create your own mini ocean diorama at this creative activity for children.
Children are invited to engage with Mandurah’s coastal environment in this fun storytelling and art activity. Coastal Waste Warriors and a local Indigenous leader share stories of the significance of the local coastal landscape. Then artists Sharon Meredith and Julie Driver will lead children in crafting their own miniature ocean dioramas using scenic photograph montages and mini jellyfish. Children will leave the activity with their very own diorama and a fresh perspective on a variety of coastal narratives!
This activity is the culmination of the Bloom project. Initially launched in July, Sharon and Julie led 20 children through a creative journey, resulting in unique artworks, seascape photos, and jellyfish sculptures installed in Falcon Library and Community Centre throughout the Mandurah Arts Festival. This artwork serves as the perfect backdrop for the sharing of coastal narratives.
Suitable for ages 6-12 years, children must be accompanied by an adult.
Accessibility: wheelchair accessible, ACROD parking, accessible toilet onsite
